The specification describes the finished product. This page records the current implementation boundaries.

Implemented

  • Typed column builders and text, number, boolean, and enum codecs.
  • An indexed local record store, immutable snapshots, compiled filters, stable multi-column sorting, and cached result windows.
  • A headless controller with subscriptions, selection, focus, validated cell edits, row-version checks, and bounded undo and redo.
  • Semantic DOM rendering, fixed-height row virtualization, flexible column sizing, and start/end sticky cells.
  • Pointer and keyboard column resizing, definition resets, and sampled autosizing that preserves mounted editors and drafts.
  • A responsive Orders playground with fictional datasets, search, filtering, sorting, selection, density, column visibility, and CSV export.
  • Loaded-window cell rectangles, quoted clipboard data, and atomic multi-cell paste with one undo step.

Execution

Compatible local queries can run in module workers. Edits outside the active filter and sort retain the accepted query order. Small relevant edits maintain a custom persistent index; larger or unsupported updates rebuild. Main-thread preparation and unsupported custom callbacks use cooperative execution.

The library remains in development. The engine benchmark page identifies its workload and the added cold-query cost.

Limits

  • Virtualization bounds mounted rows, not columns. Row heights are fixed by density.
  • Variable-height measurement, grouped headers, spans, column reordering, numeric width controls, global pin-budget coordination, and compressed scroll coordinates are not implemented.
  • Remote providers, row insert/delete/move transactions, policy integrations, collaboration, and durable draft recovery are not implemented.
  • Exact-decimal, date, and time codecs, formula engines, analytics, grouping, pivoting, and framework adapters remain outside the working foundation.
  • CSV export is a playground operation over matching local records, optionally restricted by selected keys. It is not a streaming interchange service.
  • The theme implements light defaults and a forced-colors mapping. A dark theme remains outstanding.

Verification

The foundation has automated unit tests and production-build browser workflows in desktop and mobile Chromium. Browser coverage includes editing, validation, undo and redo, selection, search, sorting, column visibility, density, CSV contents, and virtual scrolling.

Firefox, WebKit, actual touch hardware, assistive technology, and the full accessibility conformance matrix have not been verified. No accessibility certification or production performance guarantee is claimed.

Availability

Tablin is a commercial, proprietary library. It is not yet available for purchase. Packages are not published to npm, and no redistribution or usage licence is granted.
